A NEW BED FOR END-OF-LIFE PATIENTS

Thanks to a very generous donation by Canadian Natural, patients at end-of-life will be able to rest on a new Umano medical bed at the Peace River Community Health Center. In April, Canadian Natural’s Darcy Forman and Troy Robinson presented a cheque for $25,00 to the Peace Palliative Care Society towards the purchase of an Umano medical bed, that will allow those who have a terminal or life-limiting condition to rest comfortably while in hospital. This top of the line design also allows expansion, so the option is available for the patient’s family and loved ones, to be able to be close to them on their journey.

A New Bed for End of Life Patients

The Peace Palliative Care Society is a registered charitable volunteer organization whose main goal is to provide compassionate and emotional support to patients and their families when end of life is near. The Palliative Care room is located in the Peace River Hospital Complex.

Peace Palliative Care Society receives funding by donations, memorial donations and bequeaths; and our only fundraiser – the “Light Up a Memory” campaign. The Peace Palliative Care Society is registered with Revenue Canada which allows us to provide tax deductible receipts. All monies received go back into the community in support of the Palliative Care Program. All of our members are volunteers. NO monies are paid for administration.

Memorial Services

he Palliative Care Society, in consultation with the Chapel of Memories and Victim Services, host a memorial service of remembrance on the first Saturday in December each year. This is an ecumenical service, open to the public. We have speakers who are willing to share their journey of grief in the loss of their loved ones as well as Clergy offering prayers for healing. Musicians and singers are there singing spiritual songs. Coffee and snacks are provided after the service.
